Mareasa R. Isaacs, Ph.D.

Executive Director

Dr. Isaacs is the NAMBHA’s Executive Director. Until May, 2006, Dr. Isaacs was an Associate Professor at Howard University School of Social Work in Washington, DC. Dr. Isaacs also held the position of Senior Associate for Mental Health and Co-Director of RESPECT (the race, ethnicity and power work) at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, Baltimore, MD for over 6 years. Dr. Isaacs has over 25 years of experience in government and nonprofit organizations. She has held senior executive positions in child mental health within the New York State Office of Mental Health and the District of Columbia Commission on Mental Health Services. Dr. Isaacs is also a recognized expert in the area of cultural competence and has trained, developed curricula, and written extensively on the subject. She received an MSW from Simmons College and a Ph.D. in Mental Health Administration and Policy from the Heller School, Brandeis University.
